Welcome in France!
Extremely shocking… And to think it happens in France, “le pays des Droits de l’Homme” (the country of human rights) really freaks me out. Either one denies it and hides one’s shame to be French or one denounces it because it is not one’s vision of what France should be. I chose the second option.
The object of my revolt:
“Exhibition « Bienvenue en France ! » – Every year, 20 000 people are maintained in “waiting zones” in French Airports. Through the reconstitution of the “escorted” journey of a foreigner, from the moment he steps down the plane to his release or his conveyance back to his country of origin, the exhibition brings a unique photographic testimony of the situation in which these people, requesting asylum, or in interrupted transit, or owners of false identity, are detained in the waiting zone of Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport.
Continuing from Anne de Loisy’s book “Bienvenue en France! Six months of clandestine inquiry in Roissy’s waiting zones”, published in January of 2005, the exhibition restores this prison No Man’s Land through the sharp look of 6 press photographer: Olivier Aubert / 1D-PHOTO, Olivier Coret / Corbis, Yves Forestier / DEADLINE, Olivier Jobard / SIPA, Thomas Jouanneau, Joël Robine / AFP.
This exhibition is supported by “Un monde par tous” foundation and “France Terre d’Asile”.”
